Safeguarding
Proactive vs Reactive:
Safeguarding children and young people is a proactive responsibility.
Child Protection is reactive.
BRFC ensures all coaching staff have completed safeguarding training and are DBS-checked in accordance with RFU requirements.
Coaches and Trust:
Our coaches understand the trust placed in them. Coaching at BRFC is a privilege, and we are committed to rejecting negative bystander behaviour.
Comradery and banter, when used positively, helps team cohesion. However, if used to discriminate, bully, exclude or victimise it is not acceptable.
Children observe and absorb more than we may realise. Coaches and adults must model positive and respectful behaviour at all times.
“Once it’s out there on the internet, it’s out there forever.”
This digital awareness principle applies across all areas of the club.
Disclosure
If a player discloses abuse to any BRFC coach, we are legally and morally bound to act.
There is a fine line between behavioural signs and actionable evidence, but vigilance is key.
