BRFC Social Media and Communications Policy 2025
This policy is available in the Documents section under Club Policies. Relevant RFU guidelines can be found in the Information section under External Links.
Social Media Overview
BRFC maintains an active presence across multiple platforms, including our website, Pitchero, Spond, Facebook, and Instagram. These channels are used to share news, events, and important club messaging.
Where possible, coaches will replicate this information in the team WhatsApp group to ensure timely communication.
We understand many families have children in different age groups and aim to communicate efficiently without overwhelming members with repetitive messaging.
Efforts are ongoing to streamline our social media activity and reduce duplication across platforms.
While younger players are unlikely to create their own content or online forums, there may be occasions where older siblings or school friends do so on their behalf. If any content involving BRFC players is shared without adult knowledge and breaches club values, BRFC has a moral obligation to take appropriate action based on the severity of the situation.
Communication Standards
We strive to communicate respectfully and inclusively, recognizing diverse family structures.
We refer to our community collectively as “adults”—this includes parents, grandparents, guardians, aunts, uncles, and responsible siblings.
Players will be referred to by their first names in training and club events, or by nicknames approved by families.
The term “players” will be used consistently in team chats to represent all children participating, regardless of age group.
We encourage dialogue. Constructive feedback is welcome when shared appropriately. If you prefer to share comments privately, please contact a member of the coaching team directly. We are committed to resolving concerns positively.
WhatsApp Guidelines
Team WhatsApp chats serve as a direct channel between the coaching team and adults.
Please relay important information to your players and other trusted family members as needed.
Participation is voluntary. If you leave the chat, alternative communication methods will be made available. You’re welcome to rejoin at any time—just notify the coaching team.
Chats should remain relevant to rugby and club matters. Content must be friendly, professional, and courteous.
Personal attacks or inappropriate language will not be tolerated.
This document will be pinned or shared in relevant chat rooms for easy reference.
Pre-Season Communication
Transitions between age grades should be as smooth as possible.
If your player has moved age groups, please notify us so we can ensure you're added to the correct chat.
If you have multiple children in different teams, we suggest joining the respective group chats.
If you know of new or returning adults who aren't yet in this group but should be, kindly let the coaching team know so they can be included.
Summary
Use common sense and respectful communication in all BRFC online interactions.
BRFC does not support the idea that “ignorance is bliss” when it comes to social media responsibilities.
